Its very simple.

first you can complete b.tech in mechanical engineering.then masters in mechanical engineering , then pass a national educational test conducted by UNIVERSITY GRANTS COMMISSION .
this test is being conducted by the University Grants Commission twice a year, june and december.
this test meant for two segments of career, one is for lecturership and other is junior research fellowship.
if you pass this test for lecturer ship then you are eligible to apply for the post of Assistant Professor in any Degree college of engineering ( govt) or Department of Engineering in a University. if you pass the NET for junior research fellowship then you are eligible to get admission into research programme in mechanical engineering offered by any university.
P
.hD is most preferable to get assistant professorship in a govt engineering college or university.
get masters in mechanical engineering and try to get p.hD in the concerned subject then Net and then apply for a job of Assistant Professor, after completing 8 years of service you will become PROFESSOR.

Hi Harshita,

To become a professor or lecturer in the university or institute, the minimum eligibility criteria is a NET certificate or Ph.D. degree.

The National Eligibility Test (NET) is conducted every year to determine the candidature for the assistant professor or Junior research fellowship.

The candidates who have completed the post graduation degree can apply for the NET exam. There are CSIR NET Exam is conducted for the Science stream candidates while the UGC NET Exam is conducted for more than 84 subjects.

The candidates are allowed to apply for there post graduation or its related subject only.

So please check your relevant subject and apply for the Exam. the certificate will make you eligible for many other opportunities like:

  • Become an assistant professor
  • Get a job as a lab assistant
  • Become a junior scientist
  • Get scholarship or Junior research fellowship award.
  • become an entrepreneur
  • publish ur article or become an author etc.

Hope it will help.
