Hello aspirant

Thank you very much for approaching counsellors at Mera career guide. Becoming Professor? Great ambition. To become a professor of a subject is highly reputable and recognisable in our society. It is a highly responsible role and challenging profession. let me now explain how to become a professor of Leather technology.

Any subject professor requires a Doctorate degree that is like a PhD qualification. However in India every person willing to apply for a PhD study requires to follow either the 10+2+3 route or a 10+2+4 route. It is briefed below.

  • First you need to pass 10th class with a minimum first class (this is called as +10)

  • Next pass 12th class with a minimum first class (this is called as +2)

  • Then you need to pass either a three year bachelor degree like the BA/ BSC/ BCOM or a four year bachelor degree like the BENG/ BTECH. Passing a three year degree will give you (+3) points and passing a four year bachelors degree will give you a (+4) points. As you desire to become a professor of leather technology, you need to pass a related bachelors degree like the BTech Leather technology program. One best institute in India offering the course is Central leather research institute CLRI - Adyar, Chennai. This is a central government research institute and highly reputable in India and overseas too.

  • Passing the three year bachelors, you may consider studying a masters in leather tech like the MTech degree. Completing the MTech, you can write, pass and qualify the UGC-NET/ CSIR/ UGC-SET/ UGC-LEC exams. Either of the exams will alone do. Qualifying the test, you are qualified to work as a Lecturer in universities/ colleges initially. As a lecturer initially, you can be promoted to a professor after 5-8 years.

  • Else you may also consider doing a PhD in Leather technology and CLRI also offers this PhD degree and please aware that the course is very demanding at CLRI. To apply for a PhD admission, you require to pass UGC-NET/ GATE score. Passing the PhD, you are directly eligible to work as an Assistant professor and after 2-3 years you can be promoted as a professor.
