A Professor in textile engineering! Your thought process is very different and i appreciate that you have chosen to target a niche area. Nice. To become a professor in this field, you generally require two qualifications. Either a Masters degree or a PhD degree. However in both cases you are required to pass through the basic eligibility which is a minimum first class in 10th class, 12th class and a bachelors degree. It is recommended to study a BSc Textile designing or a Graduate diploma (4 years) in textile designing like the National institute of design NID Hyderabad offers.You may also consider studying BSc textile designing from Pearl academy of fashion Bangalore, Vogue institute of fashion and technology. Completing this Bachelors degree, you are required to pursue a masters in the same field and you can certainly choose the same recommended universities for studying Masters in Textile designing. It is expected to have a minimum first class pass too.
Next, with this masters degree, you can write UGC-NET/ UGC-SET/ UGC-LEC exam and passing either of the exams, you are qualified to work in colleges and universities as a lecturer.Else you can plan for a phD in textile designing and Amity school of fashion designing Noida runs a PhD in textile designing. You may also consider applying to CCS Haryana Agricultural university for a PhD in Textile designing. For this PhD, you also require UGC-NET/ CSIR scores to be eligible to apply.
Completing the PhD you are qualified to work as an assistant professor in textile engineering and after few years of performance and experience you are promoted as a professor.
