Good question. Looks like you are a person with high aim and wish to achieve it and remain at the top.

Firstly to be a Psychiatrists, you need to clear your 12th in Science stream. Thereafter, appear for entrance exams like All india premedical entrance exam, AIIMS, CET to get admission into MBBS, a 5 1/2 years course,k which also includes internship. Post that you need to achieve a masters degree or MD, for which you would again have to appear for an entrance exam and then choose a specialization , in your case Psychiatry which would be a 2 1/2 to 3 years course.

After your degree, you need to start working. Initially an experience working in an Hospital would be more advisable. Once you gain experience in handling the cases and more over practical knowledge, you can then go on to practicing as a consultant with various hospitals and clinics and at the same time begin your own practice. But as a Psychiatrists, your main mode of treatment would be medications. Ofcourse, it does work with neurotics and psychotics and severe cases like suicidal tendencies and high level of anxiety or depression. But less severe cases medication would not work only. For them counseling also is important. You have stopped a symptom, but more important is removing it out from the root. So here therapy or counseling plays an important role. So better would be to get a counseling course done or hire a counselor.
Apart from this you could also get certified with courses like EMDR, NLP, Hypnosis, PLRT etc. It is an add on to your practice as a Psychiatrists.

Sounds easy, but, to remain at the top, you need to first get your basics clear and need to keep on adding experiences and at the same time maintain relations not only with fellow psychiatrists but also clients whom you have helped. This would require a long term experience of minimum 15 years. But at the same time, you go on adding experience, guide other students who require help, get into training and development, or conduct workshops, visit schools and most importantly be in touch with your subject and co-workers.

Just go on adding experience and blog it out, and at the same time maintain relations, you would be the best of all. But patience is the key.

Wish you good luck
