I want to know about Import export course to pursue along with my regular degree???

Sir , I am a 1st year college going student studying B.com Hons.and want to pursue my career in the field of import export.Which course I want to pursue side by side either correspondance course or diploma in imoort export from FTDC ,Delhi. To get an additional degree. Please help me out ASAP.??? Thank You.

Extra Course along side your graduation:

Well, your thought of doing some extra course for your career betterment is definintely appreciable and commendable, however keeping in my your case and my years of experience, I would not like you to do any other course along side BCom, particularly since you are interested in import and export studies.

I am very happy to see that you have decided and finalised that export and import is your future career and you wish to make your career in that field. However, I would like to suggest you to focus and dedicate your attention, energy and efforts to first get your graduation degree with very good marks.
Always remember that graduation is a solid base and foundation for your career growth.

Import and Export is a vast and challenging field and doing a short course diploma or certification course will be just less than half knowledge. Taking half knowledge is always harmful.

Post Graduation:

I would like to tell you that today post graduation has become a must eligibility for many jobs in the market. Since you are interested in export and import, I would strongly recommend you to do your masters in this field.

You can certainly do and you will be fit for MBA in International Business from a premier Institute. Also you can think of doing PG in Import and Export from Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), Delhi.

MBA International Business will teach you every thing about Import and Export as well as over all business management skills.

BCom and MBA in International Business will be a good qualification base to launch your careers in Import and Export.

Dear Student,

Thanks for approaching us for your career related query. Its great that along with your graduation you want to pursue some other course as well. And when you name export import related courses, its one of the best. The reason being in present time lot of MNC's i.e. foreign companies are establishing there base in India apart from that many of the Indian Companies are importing products from foreign countries.

Further, to add the government has also proposed Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Indian market which will further boost Import Export trade/Business.

So if you have interest in this field then you must go for it.

Since you are young & just exploring the new world of knowledge, I would suggest that rather going for diploma course which only end in 4-5 months, you should go for some moreUnorganised Sectorin export & import.

Rather doing diploma , do a regular MBA in export & import from a Good Reputed College. The reason is the export & import field is very vast in itself. Following are the ares where you need to be expert:

1) EXIM Policy (Which you will study in economics)

2) Excice Act


3) Customs Act

4) VAT, Sales Tax formalities, IEC Code etc

5) Role of WTO

6) FOB, CIF valuation

7) ANd other related things

However, you can do a diploma course & I am sure you will get a job, but your knowledge will be limited.

So take a wise decision. Because complete knowledge is always helpful than half knowledge.
