There are no such special requirements to be eligible for appearing for the IAS exam as you simply need to pass any academic degree from a recognized university but for getting selected in this highly sought after services, you are supposed to study hard persistently for a whole year or sometimes even a longer period. You can appear for the IAS exam even if you are pursuing the final year of your graduation.
The UPSC comes with the notification for application in the month of February every year whereas the prelims exam will be conducted in May/June accordingly. The candidates, who qualify for the Mains exam, write the same exam in October/November. Interviews, i.e. Personality Test will be taking place in March/April and the result will be declared in May/June. Thus, you come to know that this process takes a complete year and if you couldn’t qualify next stage then it takes some longer period.

The fee is only 100/- Rupees except for SC/ST/PH and Female candidates who are exempted from payment of the fee. If you come under any category then you can the avail reservation also.
