There are a number of skills that a chartered accountant requires if he or she wants to succeed in this career. Below is the list of those personal and professional skills:

1. The chartered accountants need to be really good at working with numbers. This is an important criteria as they would be dealing with the numbers most of the times. They should be naturally good at playing with numbers so that they can work with great productivity. Therefore they need to practice it really well in order to be effective.

2. The chartered accountants need to have really good time management skills. The timelines for which they are working with their clients are often very strict and therefore they need to be disciplined and need to keep a check on the time throughout their day. A little delay in the audit process may lead to the escalations and therefore one cannot afford that. thus it is very important for them to learn the time management skills.

3. They need to interact with a number of people all throughout the day. These people include their clients, senior management and even their team members. They also need to maintain the communications with all these people through emails, telephone etc. Therefore they have to be really good at their communication skills so that they can clearly communicate their idea well and create the right impression. The good communication skills also save a lot of time and energy of the people.

4. The chartered accountants need to learn the importance of team building. As most of them would be working in large teams and have to coordinate with other team members all the time. They need to ensure that the others are doing their jobs nicely and they are also right on the track. Therefore they have to have that ability to work effectively while working in team settings and provide their contribution in such a way so that it doesn't affect the overall work in any negative manner.
