What is corporate Law?

To become a corporate lawyer you need to get a degree in law taking up a five-year bachelor of law (B.A L.L.B) /(B.B.A L.L.B) After compilation of your higher education or by pursuing the three year L.L.B after obtaining a bachelor degree in any discipline. To be admitted in to a law school in India you need to take an entrance exam called the common law admission test.

Now if you are already enrolled in any law school and pursuing LLB, you should do either diploma courses or certificate courses in any of the following subjects.
  1. Diploma in cyber laws
  2. Diploma in taxation law
  3. Diploma in Intellectual Property Law
  4. Post Graduate Diploma in Business And Commercial Laws
  5. Diploma in Legislative Drafting
  6. Diploma in Corporate Mergers & Acquisition (Highly Recommended)
These diploma courses are either six or twelve months durations.
During your sstudies you should make sure three things.
  1. Get at least first class in all subjects throughout the LLB.
  2. Avail as many as diploma/certificates you can obtained
  3. And in summer breaks or in vacations do internships with an individual lawyer or with a law firm.

In order to become a Corporate LLawyer above things should reflect in your CV.

You should also be well aware about the new things happening in Indian legal market in order to decide going further what kind of corporate lawyer you would like to be like a Banking Lawyer or a M&A lawyer or a cross border law consultant.
Determine whether you want to pursue a postgraduate course or directly join a law firm after obtaining a L.L.B, you can practice as a lawyer. To specialize in corporate law, it may be good idea to purse a post-graduate law degree or diploma course in corporate or business related law.
