Everyone must have heard about air hostess and mostly girls must have seen a dream of becoming one, and why won’t they? It is such a good profession; it is one of the sky-scraping profile professions these days. It is an amazing job option for those who love to travel. One gets to meet so many new people, celebrities’ etc. Although it is not an as straightforward job as it looks like. There are many responsibilities on air hostess. She has to see the comfort of every passenger and has to make their journey straightforwardness too.

The most basic thing which is required to become an air hostess is their personality. Education qualification does not matter much in this field. It is good if one knows any foreign language apart from their mother tongue.

Eligibility

  • Minimum education required for the post of air hostess should be 10+2.
  • Their age should be between 17 to 26 years.
  • Minimum height should be 157 cm, should be having a fair
  • Should have proper body weight.
  • Their eye sight should be 6/9.
  • She should not suffer from any major illness.

Some essential behavior skills

  • One should have gratifying behavior as well as pleasing voice.
  • They should have a friendly nature.
  • They should excel in their communication skills.
  • Should always be ready to work for long hours as sometimes there is jet lag.
  • Air hostesses should have an optimistic attitude and should be having a great presence of mind.

Exams for being an air hostess

The entire exam section is divided into 3 parts i.e.

  • Written examination: in this exam, student’s aptitude skills and reasoning power is checked. There are multiple types of questions n this exam.
  • Group discussion (GD): this is the second step towards becoming an air hostess. This is the most important part; one should need to practice well for this. Here person’s communication skills, how well one can work in a team, candidate’s nature and attitude etc.
  • Interview: this is the final round. In this interviewer will look upon candidate’s personality and will see the overall response of the individual. If a company selects you, it will provide with training for six months.

Course available for air hostess

There are 3 types of courses which are available for air hostess

  • Certificate courses: these courses are for those students who have clear their 12th These courses are of 3 months, 6 months and 1 year. A student can choose whichever course suits them. Types of certificate courses provided by institutes are aviation management and hospitality, air hostess management, training of air hostess, flight attendant etc.
  • Diploma courses: these courses can be taken after 10+2, also after graduation, one can take this diploma course. This diploma course also is for 6 months to 1 year. People are free to choose any duration. Various courses under this are diploma for the training of air hostess, diploma in aviation and hospitality management, diploma for cabin crew and diploma for travel management.
  • Degree courses: they are the most recommended course. They are preferred more than any other course. These courses are for 3 years, it is like taking a proper degree in this field. Courses available under this are Bachelor in travel and tourism, bachelor in hospitality and travel management, B.Sc. in aviation and B.Sc. in air hostess training.

Salary and package

Salary always depends on the company one is working in. Generally, salary package is around 20k to 80k. Domestic airlines pay Rs 20,000 to Rs 35,000 whereas international airlines pay around Rs 80,000. Not only this, air hostess gets discounts on flight tickets, also provide medical allowances. Overall it is that job which may fulfill every girl’s dream.

Later in their career life, air hostess gets promotion and becomes a senior flight attendant and after that head attendant. Their career life is for 10 years, after that period, duties on the ground are allotted to them. They get to work with the management team, and the pay package is good at that time also.
