    The 101

CUET counselling, explained in plain language

Four things every family should understand before the results come out — because CUET admissions reward the organised and punish the improvising.

    One Exam, No Single Counselling

CUET is one exam — but there is no JoSAA or MCC equivalent behind it. Each of the 250+ participating universities runs its own admission process on your scores: its own portal, its own registration fee, its own schedule. Clearing the exam is step one; running five admissions in parallel is the real game.

    Percentile, Not Marks

CUET runs in multiple shifts, so NTA normalises scores across sessions before universities use them. That's why your scorecard shows normalised scores — and why comparing raw marks with a friend from another shift tells you nothing. Cutoff research only works on the normalised scale.

    DU's CSAS, Decoded

Delhi University admits through CSAS — the Common Seat Allocation System. You register, then rank college + course combinations in order of preference. Allocation lists run in rounds: accept your seat, get documents verified, pay — and decide whether to stay open for an upgrade. The order of that list is your entire strategy.

    Many Portals, Many Clocks

BHU, JNU, AMU, Jamia, Allahabad and dozens more each run separate counselling with separate deadlines from June to September. Every portal charges its own registration fee, and missing one date quietly removes that university from your options. Someone has to track every clock — that's us.

Exact rules, schedules and seat counts change every year — always verify against official NTA and university notifications. Tracking those notifications for you is part of what we do.

    Path 1 · Delhi University

    DU through CSAS

The single biggest CUET destination — tens of thousands of UG seats across its colleges, all allotted through CSAS on your scores and preference order. Here the college-versus-course trade-off is sharpest, and list order decides everything.

    How it's filled

65+ colleges · CSAS rounds on CUET score + preferences

    Path 2 · Central Universities

BHU, JNU, AMU, Jamia & More

Dozens of central universities admit on CUET — each through its own portal and counselling rounds. Strong programmes, hostel campuses and low fees make several of them first choices, not backups.

    How it's filled

    BHU · JNU · AMU · Jamia · Allahabad + 40 more

    Path 3 · State, Private & Deemed

    The Wider CUET Map

Many state, private and deemed universities also accept CUET scores — often with scholarships tied to your percentile. And if CUET didn't go to plan, direct admissions keep good options open. The map is wider than most families realise.

    How it's filled

State & private CUET universities · direct admissions

Cutoffs move every year with paper difficulty and seat matrices — targets are set with you, not promised.

    Frequently asked questions

    More about CUET counselling

CUET was created to simplify undergraduate admissions — one exam instead of a dozen university entrance tests. What it did not centralise is what happens after: each participating university still runs its own admission process on the scores, with its own portal, fees, eligibility fine print and calendar. Families who expect a JoSAA-style single window discover, mid-season, that they're actually managing five or six separate admissions at once. That discovery is cheapest when it happens before the results.

Why the preference list is a strategic document

DU's CSAS walks down your ranked list of college + course combinations and allots the first one your score can claim — so the order you write is the strategy you get. A good list weighs previous years' cutoffs, the college-versus-course trade-off (a sought-after course at a mid-tier college, or a lesser course at a flagship one?), and what you'll do when the first allocation list arrives: accept and sit tight, or accept and float for an upgrade. Deciding those answers before the portal opens is most of the game.

    Course choice, decided with evidence

The hardest CUET conversations aren't about scores — they're about direction. B.Com because everyone's doing it, or economics because the aptitude data says so? Psychology at a farther campus, or English honours nearby? We put cutoff trends and course outcomes on the table alongside a psychometric read of your actual interests, so the decision is made with evidence instead of herd pressure.

    The map beyond Delhi University

DU is the headline, not the whole story. BHU, JNU, AMU, Jamia, Allahabad and dozens of other central universities admit on CUET through their own rounds — several of them first choices in their own right — and a growing list of state, private and deemed universities accepts the score too, often with percentile-linked scholarships. A complete plan keeps every track warm, so no single allocation list ever feels like the last word.
