Yes statisticians do experience social interactions. They are not always working with their computers or the sheets or statistical tools. They do have social life and interact with a number of people in their day to day lives. Please read below to understand further.
Statisticians have to gather the data and do their research. For this purpose they often have to travel and go to different places for the research where they gather data. Therefore they have to interact with a number of people and get the information out of them. Therefore, while conducting their research they meet a number of people and spend time with them. This is a nice way to meet new people and talk to them. These interactions help them to learn a number of things and also to experience social interactions. Back in the office, statisticians spend a lot of time with their team members. Before working on a project the planning part is done where the responsibilities are distributed to the team members. A number of meetings are conducted for the same purpose. In those meetings one has to interact with the senior management and get their approvals for the further course of action. Talking about day to day work of a statistician, they are occupied with a lot of work on computers and other tools. But in between they do have to coordinate with their team mates to ensure that things are right on the track. It is advisable that they keep track of all the changes and modifications that they have done so that it doesn't cause any problem later. Also, they have to update their team members about the progress of their work which requires constant interaction with them. Statisticians in some companies are required to interact with the clients on regular basis. That adds another dimension of professional interaction on their part. Therefore this role is not just about sitting at one place but also to go around and meet people.
