Hi Saumi,

I am happy that you have asked this question here. I would love to answer it . My dear saumi you are doing a very prestigious course of LLB and you are near the completion of the course.er I can understand you have lost your father and you miss his advice. You must have decided to do LLB with his advice only when he was alive, so why do you want to change it. Just give it a thought. Its a degree which will help you to solve so many problems people face.

I think you should give it a thought once again. Becoming an IAS officer is equally good though. IAS or Indian Administrative Service is a career that can not be compared to other jobs or services. The post of an IAS officer is an honor in itself and hence every body wants to go for it.

If you want to know how to prepare for it you should go to coaching classes specially giving training for IAS exams. They will give you latest information about it and proper training also.

You need to be smart enough to read selectively but reading well by mixing well from various notes made from different books and taking mock tests etc. NCERT books are the best books to be consulted for the preparation of IAS exam.

I hope the above information will show you the right way to proceed in your career.

ALL THE BEST !!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello My Dear Soumi,

Doing an LLB course does not always mean that one has the only option of becoming a Lawyer/Advocate. Please remove this misconception and get relaxed now since law profession has many aspects and many job opportunities. Scoring 70-75% marks in your course is so commendable and I compliment you for this. I am also happy to know that you are aiming for high and that is a very good thing and you should keep up this spirit. Thanks for approaching CareerGuide.com for seeking guidance to your genuine and sincere career confusion.

Since you do not wish to become a lawyer, I would like to tell you that there also othe rtypes of work to be done.

1. You can join the legal department of a company

2. You can also assist a lawyer in his back end documentation work

3. You can be consultant too for private companies, firms, individuals

4. You can rise to the rank of Legal Advisor or Legal Counsel in corporate if you join the corporate

5. You can also do freelance legal drafting work like wills, agreements, contracts, etc.

6. You can also along side teach in institutes for law subjects

7. You can also sit for judiciary exams, however there you need to be a lawyer first with experience

8. You can definintely go for IAS exam and there are many IAS officers who are law gradautes.

If you wish to go into corporate jobs, then you can apply after your completion of your llb course.

If you wish to concentrate on IAS, then I would suggest you to join a professional coaching institute which will help you prepare for competitive exams like IAS, etc.

Best Luck
