Dear friend, you have asked a very good question but you have not mentioned your educational qualifications. Let me first tell you something about a geologist. A geologist a person or scientist, who studies the solid and liquid matter that constitutes the earth as well as the processes and the history that have shaped it. Geologists usually studying more of applied science rather than a theoretical one. The person who study biology, physics or chemistry can approach for geology as higher studies subject. Geologists compared to scientists engaged in other fields have more outdoor activities rather than spending time in a laboratory. Some geologist also spend time in their laboratory to study the specimens they have collected from outside activities.

A geologist is engaged in exploring the minerals, ores, petroleum and other earth resources. They are also in forefront of natural hazards and disaster warning and mitigation, studying the earthquakes, volcanic activities, tsunamis, weather storms. Currently the geologists are also engaged in climate change phenomenon of the earth, as they study the history and other processes of the earth.
There are many specialization in geology discipline, you may read and understand to some extent that you have an aptitude and interest in becoming geologist or not.
Areas of geology;
Dendrochronology; study of dating based on tree ring patterns
Economic geology; study of ore genesis
Engineering geology; application of geology to engineering
Geo-physics; applied branch, deals in physical methods
Geo-chemistry; applied branch, deals in application of chemical methods
Geo-biology; applied branch, deals in application and exploration of biological tools
Geochronology; study of isotope geology to find out the date of rock formation
Geomorphology; study of land forms and the process that creates them
Hydrogeology; study of the origin, occurrence, and movement of ground water in subsurface geological system

Isotope geology; study of isotopic composition of the rocks to determine the rocks and planetary formation
Metamorphic petrology; study of the effects of metamorphism on minerals and rocks
Marine geology; study of the sea floor, involves geophysical, geochemical and sedimentological and paleontological investigations
Pedology; study of soil, its formation and characteristics

Besides these there are many more specialized disciplines. The bottom line is if you really wants to know, study or understand the phenomenons of earths processes going inside, then you have interest in being a geologist. If you have interest in physics, chemistry and biology and you wish to apply this knowledge to explore the things then you have interest to become a geologist.
Just ask yourself, if any above mentioned disciplines really attracts you then you are the right person to become a geologist.

Good Luck..
