Technically speaking a geologist is a person who have obtained the degree of masters in science or M tech in geology. The salary of a person depends upon many factors, such as Academic qualifications of the person, the place of work, the number of years of relevant experience and other additional qualifications.
The academic qualification is very important, if the person with doctoral degree have more chances of getting entry level job caompared to a masters degree holder. The person with PhD will be inducted as lecturer, assistant professor, assistant scientist or technical person in governmental sector such as colleges, research institution, universities and governmental laboratories. In Middle East region the salary of a fresher geologist is comparatively much higher than compared to his Indian counterpart. The salary could be around Rs. 2,00,000 to 3,00,00 per month.
