For a Business Analyst, it is quite important to have excellent communication skills:

  • Frequently they have to give presentations on the business cases to the clients and the management. They have to be really good at presenting those cases.
  • They need to write the summaries and reports on their work. These reports are reviewed and approved by senior management. Therefore, they cannot afford to make any technical mistake in the language od those reports. Else it may cause troubles.
  • There are quite a number of meetings or telephonic calls with clients, every now and then. A business analyst has to be really careful about the conversations.
  • Listening is an important part of communication skills which has to be there in a Business Analyst to grow as a professional. Good listening skills add a lot of value to the knowledge of an individual.
  • Business analysts have to read a number of business cases every day and therefore it is important that they do it with perfection. Their interpretation of the facts and the text has to be extremely accurate. Therefore, they need to work on the reading as well.
