Hello

Unorganised Sector

I should definitely appreciate you for you have identified your strengths and interests at this early stage where in most students still struggle to locate their area of interest. Journalism is definitely an exciting career and it requires a lot of self confidence and very good personality in being successful in this role.

To be successful in journalism career, you should have excellent communication skills, presentation skills, listening skills, body language, eye contact and a pleasing appearance and most importantly you should always wear a smile on your face. Journalism can be studied from any subject background and having said that you are definitely eligible to study this subject with your HSC science background. Before we proceed further, I would also like you to question yourself on why do you want to study journalism. If you could raionale that you have the skills to study this subject, well and good. Also spend a few minutes on a psychometric career assessment from this website. This test will assure you if you are apt to study journalism by assessing your personality type. This way you can be confident of your next step regarding your career.

To work in a career related to journalism, it is required for a candidate to have studied either of these degrees, BA English, mass communication, journalism, and mass and media studies. Though ideally studying BA Journalism is of a great help compared to other degrees mentioned above. Apart from studying a related degree, you may also need to be efficient with your oral skills. Glad to hear that you are already good with it, but you need to be trained even further in order to be efficient on screen while reading your news script. You can watch plenty of Youtube videos on how to improve your presentation skills especially when you are a news presenter. The top colleges for journalism in India include

Asian college of journalism
Lady Shri Ram college for women Delhi - University of Delhi
