Best would be if you could undergo an Aptitude tests to see what are your potentials and based on it could make a decision.
Since both the fields require different skills and potentials, you would have to judge what are your potentials and then take a decision.
Besides you would also need to take into consideration the number of years you could put into study and your available resources.
MBBS requires a minimum 5 years to complete graduation degree and an additional 3 years for Post graduate study, which includes a year of Internships. So its a minimum of 8 years of education. To top it you would also have to clear entrance exams to secure an admission. Also it would take you few more years of strenuous efforts to establish yourself as a recognized doctor.
As a doctor, you would require analytical ability, to see the cause and effect, reasoning capacity, mentally strong, emotions at the bay, farsightedness, team player and good empathetic skills.
Just an MBBS is not enough, if you do not wish to specialise further, you could look for an MBA in Hospitality management or into clinical research.
To make a career into journalism, you need a strong command over spoken and written language. You need to equip yourself with different languages.
You need to be an extrovert, outspoken, good analytical skill and a little shrewdness to put in the news the way it is.
Your job would involve taking interviews, to preparing a script, to writing articles to delivering the news article. It is a one man job.
Also be ready to work in any situation and no fixed timings.
To pursue a course in journalism, you would have to clear BMM, a 3 years course, admission purely on merit.
Thereby you could specialise further in journalism depending on your interests right from sports to medical journalism to day to day journalism.
All the very best....
Hello My Dear Career Aspirant,
Choosing between MBBS and Journalism a re careers apart and there fore you are finding it difficult to decide. Its very natural and very common that many of us like more than one career option and then we get confused and tensed which one to choose from. Its like liking both coffee and tea, but not able to decide which to have for the moment. :)
