Dear Manjari,

B.Com ( Management Hons) would be more beneficial to you. But you have to study accounts during MBA also. So try to figure out as to why are you not comfortable with accounts. Is it because, you not clear with the basics or do you have anxiety. Get in touch with me on [email protected]. We'll surely fix your problem of not liking accounts. GOOD LUCK

Dear candidate, it is impressive to see that you can spot HR as your career interest. From your inquiry, I see you are currently doing a BCom honors and are juggling between accounts and HR. As you say, if you are very keen in doing an MBA with HR or are interested in working in the field of HR in your future career, then you may confidently ignore studying accounts during your Bcom degree. In case your college has a provision to neglect accounts and study HR, please take HR as you desire. If accounts is made compulsory in your Bcom, even then take no worries. You can definitely do the MBA with HR even if you graduate with your BCom degree in Accounts.

Before that it is highly essnetial to ask you, how did you develop interest in human resource management? Please do not consider this subject just because someone you know is doing or you might have fallen attractive to it. Judge from within yourself if you are a suitable candidate in pursuing this subject. For that I would suggest you with the follwoing

1. Take a psychometric assessment from this website. This test will read your persoanlity, hR skills and capability and would advice if you are a right candidate for studying teh HR course. If it says yes, blindly go ahead with it.
2. Second, take the course syllabus of the HR and see if you like to study the topics and if they truly interests you. You may ask your college department or your HOD to give you the handout for HR management subject. Have a look at it to see if you like reading them over the next few years.
3. Understand the skills of a HR. A HR must be passioante for customer service along with effective communication, people oriented skills, interpersoanl, organizing, team working, team building, presentable and many more. See if you have all these skills or are interested in developing them for your future career.
4. Talk to some HR you may know and ask how s their job like. Reflect on yourself if you will love to do it too.

If all the above truly appeals you, blindly go ahead with studying HR in your Bcom. After completing your Bcom, I would suggest you to gain a minimum of two years of work experience in HR. Once you hold two years of work exp in hand, go ahead with an MBA in HR from one of the top business schools in India. For that you may also need to crack CAT exam with a very high score. Apply to top business schools like the IIM's, IIT's, BITS Pilani, FMS Delhi, XLRI, ISB Hyderabad, Symbiosis Pune, IMT Ghaziabad, MDI Gurgaon and many more. Almost most of teh schools need CAT score, the rest may require GRE/ GMAT/ ATMA/ MAT and many more.

HR careers are rapidly growing and groom yourself through your BCom years to step into the bright future in HR. My best wishes to you.
