I have completed my graduation in Chemical Engineering and now I am looking for Post graduate program. Since I am very much interested in Oil and gas sector, I want to pursue MEng in Petroleum/Oil and Gas engineering in Canada. But I am having a doubt and confusion weather MEng in Petroleum Engg is suitable for students with Chemical background, are the subjects similar, and which are the best colleges in Canada offering this course?

Petroleum/Oil and Gas Industry is one of the important industry for a chemical engineer to start his career with especially in a country like Canada. There are lot of job prospects in this field. As a person who has completed an undergraduate degree in chemical engineering you have the option to choose masters in Petroleum Engineering Or Chemical Engineering. The choice entirely depends on your personal preferences and career ambitions. If you are really choosy to start a career in Oil and Gas only, It would be worth to take a MEng in petroleum engineering. Doing a MEng in chemical engineering will open doors to other sectors as well which are equally important in Canada like pharmaceutical and biotechnology, food and agriculture etc.. During your MEng degree you can even specialize in courses which are very important for oil and gas as well if you want. As far getting a job in Oil and Gas is concerned, it entirely depends on skill sets and engineering knowledge.
