Hi,

First understand what do they do or what is the nature of their job.
Chartered Accountant often act as auditors, although in most countries they must comply with additional requirement in order to do so.

Expertise includes financial accounting, management accounting, taxation and company law.

Chartered Accountant originally worked only in public practices, selling advice and services to other individuals and businesses, but today in addition many work with in private corporations and government bodies.

Doing all this needs lot of time to analyze the records , going through all the minutest details in order to give accurate report. It is not possible to prepare a report of all the finances superficially, so they need to sit in a place where there is no disturbance.

They also prepare personal or business income tax returns.Business tax returns which are arranged for partnerships or trusts, companies, superannuation funds, rental properties and capital gains tax can only be managed by chartered accountants.Chartered accountants also help in assisting legally decreasing tax payments and other related issues.Business tax structure are other areas of accountants handled and advised by chartered accountants.

If they are working independently, they need to have a team to share the work load but it is very difficult and in doing this they have to be involved all the time. Most of the Chartered accountants work with private firms .To be successful in the sector you need to have certain qualities like-
-Self motivation and commitment,in order to combine working with studies
-General business interest and awareness.
-Communication and interpersonal skills.
-Organisational and time management skills

It depends on your experience, how fast you can finish your work in hand so that you don't have to sit for long in your cabin. This goes for any kind of job you are doing in the corporate level too.Professional behavior ,integrity, objectivity, professional competence etc are the qualities required to excel in this profession.Any job can be boring for that matter. But what motivates you to do it important.

So focus on why you are doing a particular job.If it takes care of you and your family then why all such thoughts bother you.Secondly when you choose a certain field you are aware of the nature of the job but you see your aptitude for the subject rather than how you will do it.

All the best !!!!!!!!

I am glad that you approached CareerGuide.com for seeking guidance and clarification on your good query.

My dear there are many professions where professionals are confined to one place but still it is not boring. It is not boring for the simple reason that they know how they are contributing to the organisation or profession and how important work they are doing sitting at one place.

Other professionals sitting at one place do wonderful careers are Doctors, Dentists, Software professionals, Scientists, etc.

Therefore please remove this notion that being confined to one siinglsingle cubicle is something non-sense or unnecessary or irrelevant. Therefore if you have the positive attitude and the sense that everything you do as a Chartered Accountant is important, vital and contributing to the organisation, then it is not always boring.

Do not look at a career from this sense of stitting in once place, etc. How you work, with whom you work and ultimately how you spend your day in satisfaction or dissatisfaction is the most important thing and actually that should be the important thing for a career minded person.

If one is not interested in being at one place, then better to join the marketing field, but there you may say that it is too much of travelling and too much of being in people and too much of being on the field.

So from the people from you have heard that Chartered Accountants are confined to a boring place, you can tell them this and they will also realise.

Best Luck My Dear
