I am actually surprised about why you wish to change your field after gaining a valuable work experience of five good years. Was the experience really not a good one? Did you realise after five years that the field in which you are is not good or now that you are bored or frustrated or disappointed?




I would like to suggest you to then really think why you wish to change. Always remember that if you wish to change your field altogether now, then in the new field you will be considered as a FRESHER and you may not get the salary you are earning after five years of experience. In the new field, you will earn average salary and not a high salary and may be you will get low end job with low salary.




I would like you to suggest you to re-think about your decision to change your field. Instead, you should try and find out how you can make the current work or job more interesting may be getting some value additions through some good course which will make you more skilled and competent and also help you understand the industry more and changing business dynamics. Doing a good course will surely give you a change of mind and will also in turn teach and you will learn new things.

Are you sure of your decision???

As the counselor, Anandwadadekar, has rightly said, that after 5 years of valuable experience, changing field, will make you start as a fresher.

Best would be to self introspect, as to why you wish to change the stream and what in the field helped you pull strings for 5 years.

Sometimes due to the management or new recruits, frustration stems up, but you can always try and sort it out with the management.

Best would be to look for a job in the same field.

You can firstly update your necessary skills, even if it demands taking up a course, you can opt for a correspondence

In-case if you still wish to change fields, then it would be best to undergo a Personality tests, to know your personality type, that will suggests the type of job you would excel, followed by the other jobs you can manage in.
