Warm greeting to our readers. I hope this article serves it purpose and satisfies you with the answer. Happy Reading!
Often students who are interested in Information Technology are confused between BCA and B.Tech. These two courses deal with the study of computer science after which students can either go for direct college placement or can even go for higher studies.
Higher studies enable the students to gain specification in one subject according to their liking. This not only increases their education qualification but also increases their job prospects and high reputed companies are eager to take them. Also, students after post graduation get good salary packages. These two courses have some things in common while the others are different which have been discussed below.
Must Read : Which one is better? BCA from a reputed college or B.Tech in computer science from a Tier 3 Engineering college?
BCA ( Bachelor of computer application) is an undergraduate computer course for three years which is generally divided into six semesters. This course provides students, information in depth to the subject along with practical knowledge making them handle software easily. The increasing growth of information sector in our country, demand for BCA students is also increasing. Companies want youth with high efficiency to get employed with them.
B.tech ( Bachelor of Technology) is an undergraduate course of 4 years which is further divided into 8 semesters. Admission in these courses in generally on the basis on engineering exams held every year. This is a more job focused undergraduate course because of the fact that it provides students with depth study.
Syllabus for BCA (Pune University)
The following syllabus is of BCA First year, Pune University. This will let the students have a glimpse of what they will be taught in 1st year. For students info, there are lot many other colleges and universities which offer BCA. I took Pune University just for example to answer the question.
As you can see above, BCA starts with just one core subject (which are in block letters) in the first year. This is basically the introduction to their course. BCA does not burden students with studies immediately after their 10+2. But you as you will search more, you will come to know that the number of core subjects will increase as the years pass by. Syllabus for B.Tech (IIT, Bombay) The following is the syllabus of IIT, Bombay. This is just one college that I have taken up for example. Below, is mentioned the 1st year B.Tech syllabus in computer science and engineering.
As you can clearly see above, IIT, Bombay has 2 core subjects and also has subjects related to sciences and mathematics. They have a wide syllabus mentioned in the curriculum because of the fact that B.tech is a course which involves depth study. They teach all the basic and advanced subjects required by the student to excel in the field of Information Technology. Therefore B.Tech is supposedly considered to be a tough course than BCA.

To make your doubts more clear, please read the complete article and as you go through to it you will find the differences and job prospects mentioned of both the courses. It is very important to have full knowledge of the course you wish to pursue.
The choice of the course you want to do highly depends upon the aim you have. If you are clear about the aim in life, be very careful while selecting the course you want to pursue. It is very important because of the fact that if you are not happy with the subjects you have you will never be able to put in your best. You should be satisfied with the opted course and work hard to achieve success. Also if you are not happy and are not able to cope up with the subjects, there can be a possibility of you losing an year. To be safe, and most importantly to achieve success, be very sure about the subject you choose.
After BCA, the undergraduate must opt for higher studies and do MCA ( Master of Computer Application) to outshine the still undergraduate B.Tech student. Which simply leads us to the following equation:-
List of some colleges for BCA and B.Tech in India.
Below are enlisted some of the job prospects of BBA and B.Tech.
I hope students have now prepared their mind as to which course they must select and pursue. They must think wisely keeping into consideration their aptitude and skills. Happy people do not always have the best things in life, they turn the things into best. Nothing in the world should stop you from scaling new heights. If you are happy with what you have done and are satisfied, then you are on the right path. Always listen to your instincts and keep going. Never be disheartened even if you do not get success in first go. You will fall, but don’t worry. Get up, brush of the dust and start over again. Nothing is unachievable.
