What should I do to be an astrophysician ?

I am not clear about my career to be an astrophysician please tell me the steps and works I have to do.

Astrophysicist are scientists that study the physical components of celestial objects. They study the physics of the universe as well as the interaction between the various objects which occupy it. Astrophysicist can either study the theoretical aspects of space or apply their fundamental knowledge of physics to explore various occurrences in space such as dark matter, black holes, stellar evolution, super clusters and neutron stars.



If you want to become an astrophysicist you need to determine if this career path is a good fit for you. If the following description sounds like you, then you are probably well suited for a career as an astrophysicist.



Those who become astrophysicist are individuals that have a keen interest in celestial objects, space and the physical universe as a whole, they tend to read over and above what is taught in the classroom. Those who become astrophysicist are well educated in math, physics and astrophysics; aspiring astrophysicist should be prepared to undertake eight to ten years of post secondary study to build the necessary knowledge base for this career.



Astrophysicist also have a patience to pursue a career with low turn over and few vacancies. Although lucrative career in astrophysics are out there, it is typically not a money making field. Those who become astrophysicist are those that really care about the topics they are researching.....Which can make for a great work environment!!!.

Education needed to become an Astrophysicist:



In order to qualify for entry level jobs in astrophysics, you typically need a BSc degree in Astronomy, Astrophysics or Physics. MSc degree in astrophysicist is required for most research assistant and consulting positions. A doctoral PhD degree in astrophysicist is needed if you want to work for a college or university as a lecturer, professor / scientist or researcher.

Many astrophysicist who have doctoral degree work as a post doctoral fellowship for three to six years before finding permanent employment.
